Series addresses the theme of deforestation. Paintings depicting sunlight that breaks through a dense forest. There is no forest image, just sunlight, like residual spots in your vision created by bright objects. Phantom images something of the lost. This is theme very important for me. I was born and raised in central Siberia. My hometown is surrounded by vast forests. Every year people there face the problem of forest fires. Millions of hectares of forest are destroyed annually. Fires are a natural process for such vast forests, but not on such a scale. Modern fires in Siberia can hardly be called natural, since the vast majority of them are caused by human action — most experts agree with this. The events of 2022 have changed the context of this project. Many people like me had to move. Deforestation has become a metaphor for a lost the home.
Title "Dark forest" is a Russian idiom denoting the unknown.
